- Jan: Community Aid Abroad fund-raising performance with Jane Belfrage on harp, Mt Martha.
- Feb: Sea of Hands performance as a part of a public demonstration in support of Native Title rights, I performed with taiko players Toshi & Junko Sakamoto and aboriginal didjeridu performer Tom E Lewis. Treasury Gardens, Melbourne.
- Feb: International Women's Day Breakfast run by the IWDA (International Women's Development Agency) perfomed solo, Melbourne
- Mar/April: Artist in schools Japanese Music and Dance with Machiko Kaneko (dance). Tour through ACT & Victoria organised by Nexus Arts.
- Mar: Intersecting Lines recital with Peter Hagen (harpsichord), Ursula Genaehr (recorders), Machiko Kaneko (dance) & Jeurgen Lett (chime maker), featuring some compositions by me and collarative works and improvisations along side Baroque, traditional and contemporary Japanese works. Part of the Albury Gallery concert series, Albury NSW.
- Mar: Great Escapes duo with dancer Machiko Kaneko to my composition Alone in a Strange Place. A part of a season of movement art at Dancehouse, Melbourne.
- Apr: Russia and Japan a shared evening with Zulya Kamalova (singer). Performed with Yumi Umiumare (butoh), Machiko Kaneko (nihon buyoh), Miki Katsumizu (koto). The Boite, Mark St Hall, Melbourne.
- Apr: Yarram Festival parade and fair performance with Toshi & Junko Sakamoto (Taiko), East Gippsland, Victoria.
- Apr: Driftwood recital with Michael Livett to open the Southern Grampians Autumn Festival, Hamilton Gallery.
- Apr: Recorded two tracks with Jane Belfrage for her new CD of original works for harp at Hugh McDonald Studios, Kew.
- May: Recorded shakuhachi on song "I'm here to tell" for cd of songs by Grant McPherson.
- May: MUSIC OF RAPTURE: recital featuring Jouissance and a Byzantine Choir at Monash University, Melbourne
- May: Melbourne-Osaka Japanese Music Celebration with Tajima Tadashi & a touring group of 20 shakuhachi & koto performers from Japan. Melbourne Town Hall, Supper Room.
- May: ETERNAL HARMONIES: recital featuring Jouissance, the Eternal Choir, Petrunka & The Other at 101 Collins St, Melbourne
- May: Lunchtime recital with Tajima Tadashi, Tokimura Yoshie & Andrew MacGregor at Monash University, Clayton.
- May: Performed in recital by Tajima Tadashi, Melba Hall, Parkville.
- Apr/May/June: Artist in schools Drums & Flutes of Japan with Toshi & Junko Sakamoto. Tour through Victoria organised by Nexus Arts.
- July: dalai lama's birthday celebrations at the wild yak, collingwood.
- Jul: Invited artist at the World Shakuhachi Festival 1998 in Colorado USA, but was unfortunately unable to attend.
- Aug: Artist in schools Drums & Flutes of Japan with Toshi & Junko Sakamoto. Tour through ACT organised by Nexus Arts.
- Aug:Kagome season of performances by Nadoya Music and Dance Company presented by Performing Lines. The Performance Space, Sydney.
- Sept:Kagome season of performances by Nadoya Music and Dance Company presented by Hirano Ptd Ltd under the banner of MADE TO MOVE. The Malthouse, Melbourne.
- Sept:Victorian Flute Guild solo recital at Toorak Uniting Church, Melbourne.
- Oct: Jouissance performing in Melbourne International Festival.
- Oct/Nov: Artist in schools Drums & Flutes of Japan with Toshi & Junko Sakamoto. Tour through South Australia organised by Nexus Arts.
- Nov: Japanese Afternoon at Footscray Community Arts Centre. Performance featuring Anne Norman (shakuhachi), Toshi Sakamoto (taiko), Peter Eckersall (Kyogen), Yumi Umiumare (butoh)...
- Dec: Kojiki music and dance performance of an episode from the Japanese Creation Myth, directed by Anne Norman at the President's Cup, Paladium Ballroom, Crown Casino. Included the dancers Yumi Umiumare and Tony Yap, with Anne Norman (shakuhachi, shinobue and koto), Toshinori Sakamoto and local taiko team 'Chiten'.
