  • Feb-June: Drums & Flutes of Japan 2 performances in schools throughout Victoria with taiko players Toshi & Junko Sakamoto on tour through NEXUS ARTS.
  • Feb: recording of shakuhachi & ocarina for sound track to Goddess of 1967, a film by Clara Law, Music by Jen Anderson. .
  • March: JMiS 3 solo school shows in Victoria
  • March: GRAND PRIX - roving entertainer in the drivers and sponsors precinct
  • March: Melbourne Goh Club guest performer at presentation night following annual Go (chess) tournament at NOVOTEL Melbourne
  • April: Recorded "Sounds of Global Harmony " CD with Sarah Hopkins and the Gyuto Monks of Tibet
  • May/June: Drums & Flutes of Japan 9 performances in schools throughout Victoria with taiko players Toshi & Junko Sakamoto on tour through NEXUS ARTS & JMiS.
  • May: studied sumatran saluang (diagonally blown bamboo flute) with Admiral and 'Randai' music theatre with Indija N Mahjoeddin.
  • May: Artist in Residence at Kingscote Area School on Kangaroo Island, SA, putting together a music/theatre performance based on a Japanese folk tale with primary school students.
  • June: World music collaboration series, part of The Boite World Music Cafe's Winter Festival, performed with Christopher Young (clarinet, bass clarinet...) Ray Pereira (West African Drums), Tzu (hip-hop vocal duo)
  • July: 'Japan: Tradition in a Modern Age' performance at Melbourne Town Hall for The Boite's Winter Festival with Yumi Umiumare (butoh) and Satsuki Odamura (koto).
  • July/Aug: 'BACH in a Kimono' - 5 performances of music for shakuhachi, flute and harpsichord with Peter Hagen at the Victorian Arts Centre, The Boite World Music Cafe, and in Broadford and Mornington.
  • Aug-Oct: Drums & Flutes of Japan 10 performances in schools throughout Victoria with taiko players Toshi & Junko Sakamoto on tour through NEXUS ARTS & JMiS.
  • Aug/Sept: music workshops on homemade instruments with children at the Peninsula hospice in Frankston.
  • Aug/Oct:composed and rehearsed 'We Lose Things', a trio for bass, shakuhachi and power pole bells (made from found objects). Commissioned by Le Tuan Hung of the Australian Asia Foundation and sponsored by the Australia Council for the Arts. This piece is dedicated to Machiko Kaneko (died 14/9/00)
  • Aug: Roaming performance with Yumi Umiumare at Southgate, Melbourne
  • Aug: Solo shakuhachi played at a memorial ceremony on the beach in Frankston as a part of National 'Grief Week'
  • Sept: Final recording and mastering of "sounds of Global Harmony" CD
  • sept-Nov: Drums & Flutes of Japan 18 performances in schools throughout Victoria with taiko players Toshi & Junko Sakamoto on tour through NEXUS ARTS.
  • Sept: Christopher Young & Anne Norman duo recital at The National Gallery on Russell st- bass clarinet, clarinet and shakuhachi
  • Oct: Performed at the frankston susono sister city 'Japanese fair' - solo shakuhachi, & in accompaniment to sado (tea ceremony) and shinobue flute with japep taiko ensemble.
  • Oct: Drums & Flutes of Japan 7 performances in schools in Adelaide with taiko players Toshi & Junko Sakamoto on tour through NEXUS ARTS.
  • Oct: Globe to Globe World Music Festival in Kingston, performance by Nadoya .
  • Nov: Roaming performance with Yumi Umiumare at Prahran Festival
  • Nov: Solo shakuhachi for a private wedding and reception at montsalvat
  • Nov: Filming of promo video/cd-rom with Jouissance
  • Nov 13th: 'We Lose Things' premier performance in a recital at Rechabite Hall Northcote with Nick Tsiavos, Peter Neville, Deborah Kayser and Anne Norman. Sponsored by Australia Asia Foundation
  • Nov: The duo of harpsichord (Peter Hagen) and shakuhachi (Anne Norman) is granted a touring grant by Arts Victoria. A show & tell session is held with prospective composers for the duo, and a submission to the Australia Council for the Arts is made to commission new works.
  • Nov/Dec: composition and arrangements of 'Celebrate Life' and 'Summers Day' for choir and band to be performed in 2001 at the Frankston Festival on Sea, sponsored by the Frankston City Council
  • Dec:Japanese Music 3 solo workshops through NEXUS ARTS
  • Dec: Guest artist in Japep annual student taiko concert at Melba Hall, University of Melbourne
