- Jan: The Sea Ceremony a community arts event directed by Anne Norman featuring Anne's compositions: "Summer's Day" & "Celebrate Life" sponsored by Frankston City Council. This event was staged on the Frankston Beach at sunset as a part of the Frankston Festival of the Sea. Involved a choir, band, dancers, poets, actor and sculptor.
- Feb: solo Japanese music workshops in ballarat through nexus arts
- March: Our Celebration of Machiko's Life. Anne performed "We Lose Things" with TANAKA Rika (chimes) & KURODA Miwa (bass) at the memorial for Machiko Kaneko in Nishinomiya city, JAPAN.
- April: 3 performances of "full course no tenrankai" with GUMBO Theatre Group in Osaka, JAPAN. Anne extemporised on shakuhachi & other flutes to accompany five actors presenting Tragic scenes of famous characters from literature in a comic light. Directed by Kayo Tamura.
- April: Guest artist with Hiro Uehara & GUMBO performing at Sun Hall Live House in Namba, OSAKA.
- May: Jane Belfrage & Friends, performed in a seven piece ensemble at The Boite World Music Cafe. Featured 2x violins, cello, harp, piano acordian, percussion & shakuhachi.
- May: Solo Japanese music workshops at Toorak College.
- May: Drums & flutes of Japan 22 performances in schools around Brisbane with taiko players Toshi & Nick on tour through NEXUS ARTS.
- June: Commissioned to compose a choral work with string accompaniment "The Memory Garden" for Woodleigh school choir
- June: Drums & flutes of Japan 11 performances in schools in Northern Victoria with taiko player Toshi Sakamoto on tour through NEXUS ARTS.
- Jun: Compose "Machiko in kiewa" for chimes, shakuhachi, harpsichord and recorder to be performed by Questing Spirit in concert with Ursula Genaehr in Wodonga in August
- June 27: Live broadcast performance by 'questing spirit' on The Evening Show's 'MUSIC BOX' presented by Peter Clarke on 774 ABC at the Melbourne Museum.
- Jun/July/Aug: 'Questing Spirit' 10 performances of music for shakuhachi, flute and harpsichord with Peter Hagen in Victoria & SA. This tour was made possible through an Arts Victoria Regional Touring Grant.
- July: "In search of the heart treasure" an evening of improvised music with guitarist Jarek Czechowicz & friends at Gasworks, South Melbourne.
- July-Oct: Sessional teacher in the 'centre for ideas' at the Victorian College of the Arts, conducting a class with co-facillitator Roger Alsop in 'Collaboration'. Students involved in this subject come from all schools of the VCA (actors, visual artists, musicians, dancers, production students ...)
- July-Nov: 18 solo Japanese music workshops in primary schools in Victoria
- Aug: Conduct Woodleigh school choir in their performance of my composition "The Memory Garden" at the memorial service for two students
- Aug/Sept: Rehearse & record cd with Jane Belfrage
- Aug/Sept: Commissioned to compose a work for the new Field of Bells in the park near Federation Square by the Melbourne Festival. For more on the bells visit: Australian Bell
- Aug-Dec: Drums & flutes of Japan 28 performances in schools around Victoria with taiko player Toshi Sakamoto
- Sept: Artist in residence at Leongatha PS working with grade 5s for their school production "dream story"
- Sept: Performed at concert at Dance House to raise money for the Sylvia Staehli Dance Therapy Scholarship Fund.
- Sept: Artist in residence at Upper Ferntree Gully PS producing "Super mouse" with the grade 3s
- Sept: Tutor & participant at the Japep taiko camp in Heathcote Junction
- Oct: Performed as roving artist with Yumi Umiumare (butoh) at Southgate
- Oct: Artist in residence at Woodleigh School working with secondary performing Arts students on Collaborative Cross-Artform explorations. Also collaborated in duo performance with Kev Carmody.
- Oct: One of 12 performance artists playing our cars in 'motor vehicle sundown' directed by Vanessa Tomlinson at the Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne Festival.
- Nov: Recorded We Lose Things at Baker St Studios. This session and an interview were videoed by the Education Department for inclusion in a video on Asian influences on Australian Performing Arts to be released to schools nation-wide in 2002.
- Nov: Commissioned to compose work for massed shakuhachi ensemble for the 3rd Australian Shakuhachi Festival Melbourne 2002. Funded by Australia Council for the Arts Music Fund.
- Dec: Guest performer at the annual Japep student wadaiko concert at Union House Theatre
- Dec: "Flights of fantasy" improvised trio performance with Wendy Leslie (movement & violin) and Barbara Weiss (movement & voice), and also with Al Wunder, Peter Trottman, Warren Burt ... at Cecil Street Studio, Fitzroy.
- Dec:"In Search of The Heart Treasure" the second performance and launch of CD of first live performance by the Jarek Czechowicz Ensemble at Gas Works.
